Meet Deena Rae and eBookBuilders

Professional book designer and publishing consultant with 20+ years in the industry.

I’m Deena Rae, the founder of eBookBuilders. I’ve been helping indie authors and small presses turn manuscripts into professionally produced books since before Kindle was a thing.

With over two decades in publishing and thousands of titles across fiction and nonfiction, I’ve seen just about every production mistake possible — formatting failures, cover misfires, file rejections, and expensive do-overs. My job is to make sure your book doesn’t become one of those cautionary tales.

Whether you’re publishing your first book or managing a growing backlist, I bring industry experience, design precision, and practical judgment to every project — including telling you when not to spend money.

🔧 Why Work With Me?

20+ Years in Publishing

I’ve been working in book production since authors mailed files to printers on CDs — which means I understand both the legacy rules and modern platforms.

Custom Design — No Templates

Every cover and interior is built specifically for your book, your genre, and your readers. No recycled layouts. No one-size-fits-all shortcuts.

Indie-Focused Experience

I work almost exclusively with indie and aspiring authors, so I understand real-world constraints, platform requirements, and long-term publishing goals.

Clean, Platform-Ready Files

Files are prepared to meet Amazon KDP and IngramSpark standards the first time — because production hiccups cost time, momentum, and patience.

10 Steps to Published

Publishing Architecture

The structural planning behind professional book production.

Publishing Architecture focuses on the decisions that shape how a book is built and released — before files are finalized or money is spent in the wrong order.

It looks at how production, formats, platforms, metadata, and future releases fit together so the publishing process runs smoothly now and doesn’t need to be torn apart later.

This kind of planning is especially useful for authors working on a series, managing a backlist, or aiming to build a long-term publishing career rather than just releasing a single title.

And if your project doesn’t need this level of planning? I’ll tell you that, too.

What They’re Saying

Customer Testimonials

Deena Rae, at eBookBuilders is an amazing person to work with, she took the vision of what I wanted my book cover to look like and made it a reality…even better than I envisioned. She listens to you and gives you great advice, she kept me from making some amateur mistakes and made me look like a seasoned professional. Deena Rae is an expert at what she does and I highly recommend her to anyone contemplating publishing a book. She is definitely worth every penny!

Tamra McAnally Bolton

Author, Poverty Ridge Press

I have no idea how to do what Deena Rae does nor did I have particularly great ‘asks’ or ‘instructions’ – I told her about the book and asked her to make magic and she delivered! Not only did she design incredible art for the book, but she also walked me through the entire process like a professional and gave me very clear instructions and options. I’ll definitely be working with Deena Rae again and would recommend eBookBuilders to anyone serious about making their book look as good as it gets.

Joel McKay

Author, Birchwood Press

Working with Deena Rae is such a pleasure, and she has taken all the anxiety of interior and exterior book design out of the process for me. I have tried to design my books myself, and I realized very quickly I needed professional help. Luckily, I ended up with Deena Rae and eBookBuilders. She is a wizard with colors, themes, and curb appeal. All I had to do was give her a general idea what I was thinking, and she was off to work. Many times, I just knew this latest project would be the one to challenge her. . . and it never happened that way! She was always spot on with great book design, inside and out, and that is coming from someone whom she has designed six books for so far!

Bjorn Leesson

Author, Thalsparr Press

I am so incredibly excited about the cover Deena Rae designed for my second book, At Least I’m Trying. It is more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. I took my book to a bookfair and set it up on my table prior to its release and it was a MAGNET. Almost every person who walked by was drawn to it and wanted to know more. Deena was helpful and communicated quickly. She made the process so simple and I can’t wait to work with her again.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Deena Rae of eBookBuilders. She works closely with her authors and takes the time to get things “just right” for the feel and images that the books are to be conveying. She is a dream to work with and the finished products are second to none.

Allison M. Cosgrove

I was thoroughly pleased with my experience with eBookBuilders when putting together the Christmas anthology Tangled Lights and Silent Nights, Deena Rae’s ability to quickly design and compile multiple stories into one cohesive, beautiful book and ebook was done with professionalism and style. I can’t imagine using anyone else for these services.

Deena Rae is an amazing digital director. I have worked with her on two projects, and more will follow. Easy to deal with, communication is never an issue, and her turnaround for a project is lightning fast.  Her rates are reasonable almost to the point of shocking considering how professional she is. She is my go-to for a perfect project!
