My Rating
This book is definitely a “thinking” person read. There are an abundance of medical terms and descriptions that at times can be confusing. So much technical information I sometimes felt lost. My not being fluent in French also caused some “translation” issues.
The story was horrifying and terror inducing. Dr. Reich truly shows the horrible things humans are capable of.
If you read this thinking you will be getting the “Bones” and Seely from the television series your will be disappointed. Temperance in the books is not socially awkward and there is not Seely Booth in sight.
In Déjà Dead, the reader is introduced to American doctor of anthropology Temperance Brennan who is working with the Montreal Canada forensics department. She morphs from a forensic specialist to more of an investigator in the book. Ms Reichs does a wonderful job of allowing the reader into the main character’s mind. Unlike another book I read recently, the characters that Ms Reich writes are likeable and the reader will develop a connection with them.
I will take a chance in more books in the series as I found this storyline intriguing and engrossing.
Recommend?
I recommend to those who do not mind 10-letter words and enjoy utilizing a dictionary or Wikipedia when reading. This book made me smarter.
